Increasing Student Engagement By Grading Backwards

This is a strategy that I’ve tried to implement a few times, with varying degrees of success.  Expect some backlash from students, parents, and admin who are afraid of change and experimentation, but the benefits of this system, executed well, are astonishing.  I am looking forward to trying out the software that this team is developing to facilitate a points-based system of assessment that revolves not around penalizing failure but rewarding success.
