Rap Genius, Curriculet, and Digital Annotation in the Classroom

This is a review of two digital annotation tools that are being used in the classroom, Rap Genius and Curriculet.

I’ve published it as a Rap Genius text here.

  1. Wow, what a fascinating, thought-provoking text! Both tools certainly seem so much more appealing and hip than the stodgy eComma program for annotation that was developed for university students. Does anyone else think that there is a fine line between tools that are fun to use and tools that help learning? There used to be a term “edutainment” but I haven’t heard or seen it in a while. Today people talk about ubiquitous learning, that lots of learning can and does take place outside the classroom. I certainly agree with this, and these two tools are a step in that direction. I’ll be curious to hear about teachers who have used these tools with their students.
